L01: Adobe InDesign Pre-Lim Contents Page

A desktop publishing program this means it is used to lay out print based product e.g. magazines, newspapers, leaflets, posters and books. I will be using this program for the contents and DPS of my magazine

Setting up an InDesign document.

Here is an image to represent how I set up the height, width, columns, gutters and margins for my contents page
the gutter means the space between the columns.

Import Images.
Rectangle frame tool (box with an x) is used to place images and graphics into InDesign

Add and edit text.
Use the TEXT tool to make a box for the text.
Type in the box and use the A (Character formatting controls) and P (Paragraph) to format the style and layout of the text.
Bassline Shift Tool. This allows you to select where the text is placed.

Add and edit colours.

use rectangle tool to make shape.
select 'colour' palette to add the colour I need to use

Use RGB or CYMK to colour match the colours used in Photoshop to match the colours in InDesign

here I have added the text to show it is the contents page and added a font and a font style that gives it the effect that makes some letters overlap the others.

here I have four text boxes in columns with gutters between them and have added a masthead
